Diagnosis codes for Medicare claims rise as readmissions fall

A new study found that hospital admissions with more diagnosis codes in their Medicare claims reported lower readmission rates than those who used less. In January 2011 (Red line), the CMS allowed hospitals to report more than 10 and up to 25 diagnosis codes per claim.
