80% or more of Americans want electronic access to health information such as laboratory test results, treatment plans and family medical history.
But four categories of information did not receive as much interest in a Pew health information technology survey:
Behavioral or mental health history
Substance use history
Demographic information
Social determinants of health
Note: Demographic information includes gender and ethnicity. Social determinants of health include “information such as exposure to violence or history of physical abuse, hunger or lack of access to healthy food, or homelessness or lack of access to housing,” according to the survey.
