ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONCERNS IN TUSCON

Pima County recently studied the impact of adding a new ethylene oxide sterilization facility (Becton, Dickinson and Company) to an area beset with environmental concerns. The southeast corner of Tucson houses Pima County’s top pollutors, including one of the nation’s oldest Superfund sites and more than half the county’s Class I air permits.
